Lindsey Jordan is a New York City-based singer-songwriter who performs under the moniker Snail Mail. Her debut album ‘Lush’ is one of my favorite rock records from the last few years (can’t believe it’s been that long already…) and I also loved her follow-up ‘Valentine’. In 2022 Lindsey played a few shows with fellow Baltimore legends Turnstile & JPEGMAFIA and she just set out on another big headline tour, joined by Water From Your Eyes, which starts with Coachella and ends back in New York at Governors Ball. She’ll also be making her cinematic debut in the upcoming A24 horror film ‘I Saw the TV Glow’ alongside Fred Durst, Conner O'Malley, and Phoebe Bridgers. Lucky for us, Lindsey is here to tell us what she’s into.

I have no idea how I only just found out about this band, considering how directly up my alley they are, but I’m so grateful to have been turned onto them now. I’m not sure what to say, beyond challenging whoever is reading this to find a single bad song in their discography. I also can’t believe they’re american because they do not sound it.

I don’t like to rate on letterboxd unless I am giving something 5 stars because I am not a professional critic, just a fan with strong opinions. This movie was an instant 5 stars. I especially love horror movies and this one did it for me. There are so many movies about killers breaking into people’s homes, I didn’t go into it expecting to be blown away, but the camera angles, the editing, the acting, the tension, the way it moves - I loved it.

I took myself by surprise when a memoir-esque book joined the ranking of my favorites of all time. The storytelling is revolutionary and like nothing I have ever consumed before, in the true style of John Waters. I can feel the respect and admiration he has for the people in his life that have touched him and I love how powerfully that comes through in the book.

I found out about this band recently and have been obsessed with their record “Know by Heart” since I heard it. Their shoegaze-leaning stuff is immaculate, but pigeon holing them as a shoegaze band doesn’t feel right because their discography expands far beyond that in my opinion. I love the lyricism, the drum sounds, the riffs.

I find myself mostly reading fiction written by gay men about being a gay man, so when I was given a copy by my girlfriend, I devoured it. The story itself is beautifully constructed and the way he writes made me feel a lot of things. It’s the kind of book that makes me want to write lyrics. I cried like a baby multiple times throughout and felt like something, somewhere had shifted in me when I was finished reading it.
