Barbecues are overlooked and beautiful. I remember growing up and how great it felt eating in the sun, sipping on a cold bev, and gossiping. Uncles and aunties making you plates - you’ll have food for days after. Ready for summer fr.
These are music with cultural ethos, perspective, and intent. I remember juke music being really big in Chicago where I was born and raised. The energy around juke parties was unmatched. Looking at it compositionally I love all the samples they appropriate plus the loop-ability of juke music is great for mixing. Try to play some in every set. In general, I love culturally poignant & ethnically influenced electronic or ambient music utilizing appropriated material into something surreal. Good art should have an honest perspective. Been wanting to throw an ambient party recently... Some great artists include Aho Ssan, Klein, and Elysia Crampton.
INDIE SLEAZE is y'all's last chance to make whiteness seem cool. I’m personally over it, the white supremacy is out. I’m gonna assume anyone trying to revert back or revive these aesthetics has no swag or sense of self or personhood. It's past irony, it's white supremacy. It’s not post-anything also. It’s exclusionary cuz whites feel excluded from the current convo so they decide to dress alike and dive deep into anglo-aesthetics. It’s boring, it’s obvious, and it’s over. Book more Black people for your parties instead, at least there will be some sort of cultural ethos.
I’m of the school of thought that Instagram is a great resource and it's lame to shy away from it. I get brain fog and comparison but utilizing the tools is better than letting them go to waste. I love writing and captions are a great place to be witty and play associative games that reference your lore and viewership.
I love archive accounts, especially this one because they post all these archive Corinne Day photos. Day is one of my favorite creative minds/photographers, and her work with model George Clements has such unmatched personality. George Clements has insane swag and charisma.
WHM is my favorite archive and shop. They have some of the most rare pieces and are so friendly and cool af. Recently got some sparkly Galliano [redacted] sweatpants from them that fit too small but I sag them cuz they’re crazy/
One of my favorite cocktails. It’s amazingly bitter with a sweet side. Drinking Hennessy is a flex in itself and not a lot of places have it because it is a bit expensive. I drink it with a red bull to wake me up for the Afters.
