Slayyyter is a Los Angeles-based pop star who exploded on the scene with bangers like "Mine", "BFF", and "Daddy AF" from her self-titled 2019 mixtape. The splash she made with the Slayyyter tape propelled her from Soundcloud to touring with Charli XCX, and her vibrant debut album, Troubled Paradise, solidified her as a star in her own right. She just wrapped up a headlining tour in Australia and opened for Tove Lo on The Dirt Femme Tour in North America. Last week Slayyyter kicked off her new era with a dance-pop earworm titled "Out of Time”. Lucky for us, she's here to tell us what she's been into.

I'm addicted to this song. I have been listening to it on repeat for months. I close my eyes and feel like I'm instantly in the club, not a lot of songs do that to me...
I've gotten really into the side hobby of strassing things with rhinestones... I go to bohemian crystal in downtown la and get all my supplies then just sit and spend hours hand placing rhinestones onto whatever prop or accessory I've decided to bling out. Not everything needs to have rhinestones though, that would be lame... But I like strassing random things or props. I have a gold rhinestone toy gun in my house, working on stoning a pack of cigarettes right now. The E6000 glue must be killing my braincells though.

This is my favorite perfume... I hate that it's so expensive because I like to spray it everywhere. I put it in my purse and take it everywhere I go. It's the sexiest perfume I've ever come across.
The earliest bits of hollywood gossip! I'm fascinated by Kenneth Anger. I love his films, his books, everything. I recently watched a documentary about him on youtube and it made be a bit obsessed. He's a true Hollywood icon.

Can't go wrong with a good pair of motorcycle boots. It's definitely the item I wear most from my wardrobe. I have a pair of vintage ones I'm obsessed with, but also love my acne studios thigh high boots. I don't think they'll ever go out of style. I don't have a motorcycle though.

Almost all of my furniture is 80s deco/ post modern. I love Karl Springer furniture. Anything that embodies the vibe of Miami Vice. It sounds funny but my next album was really inspired by that kind of interior design. I feel like when I see certain images of sleek 80s decor I can hear the kinds of songs that should be playing there. Everyone should sex up their home with a little jaguar stature or some faux marble tables... Mirror above the bed, that kind of thing y'know?
🎥
I don't know why this film genre ever died... Corny to some but I find them inspiring. Basic Instinct, Sliver, Body Double, Fatal Attraction. All have such incredible set design and visual inspiration that's so creatively stimulating. The plot lines are so stupid but young Michael Douglas is hot, so who cares!

I started taking ballet classes and it helped so much with flexibility and movement. I jump around so much on stage and I feel like my balance has improved, I feel more stretched out. The classical piano music gets my brain to instantly unwind. It's hard, but rewarding. And you get to wear cute outfits.
🎵
I love this band. Me and my DJ Owen Jackson have a pre-show ritual where we play Time To Dance and do a tequila shot before we go on stage.
