Stephanie LaCava is a New York City-based writer and publisher. She’s written two books so far, 2020’s The Superrationals (Semiotext(e)) and 2022’s I Fear My Pain Interests You (Verso), and contributed to publications such as Vogue, Texte zur Kunst, Artforum, Spike Art Magazine, New York Times Style Magazine, Interview, and more. Her latest is a favorite of mine, and if my recommendation isn’t enough, Michael Imperioli (PI #285) praised it on Perfectly Imperfect and Tao Lin reviewed it for The New York Times. Stephanie is also the founder of independent publisher Small Press, and will release a co-translation of unseen poems from the incredible mind of Zoe Lund (Ms. 45, Bad Lieutenant, etc) later this month. If you’re in Chicago or New York, keep your eye out for her upcoming Tenso: A Dialogue on Love performances with Anahid Nersessian. Lucky for us, Stephanie is here to tell us what she's been into.

My favorite antique one has scalloped edges and three strawberries embroidered in two places. I have one called Modell Diana from the shop. It’s original packaging is amazing with black and white images and gold stripes. I think you can call and they will send items, but so much better to visit.
Trust me. It’s written by one of my best friends, someone who’s ideas/values on love and electric mind I respect and admire/witness in real time. This book will be the best thing you’ve read all year.
Set theory- game theory, whatever. This is the graphic banner for a board game created by the musician-genius-artist-magician.
I love a catsuit. They function one of two ways. They can make packing super easy and outfits very fun OR they can be layered under things to keep warm. I have two styles: catsuit or catsuit under layered T-shirts and baggy jeans / sweatpants.Three, maybe, if you include the pantless looks.

I am mildly disappointed that Sambas seem to be making the rounds all over the place, but these have been my shoe of choice since I was eleven. Doesn’t get any better.
For film screenings and events around nyc/ recommendations.

Ruby is the very best. When I was in London recently, we hung out and she gave me the white-webbed catsuit. More importantly she included a note on stationery with little strawberries.
