AIR

🎥 The Revenant, 🚌 Big Bus Tours, 🥂 La Belle Epoque, and more.

Air is an iconic Versailles-born electronic music duo composed of Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel. It's hard to express just how much their idiosyncratic and dreamy music means to me. Albums like Talkie Walkie and the score for Sofia Coppola's The Virgin Suicides provided the soundtrack to my high school years- and they've only grown better with time. This year marks the 25th anniversary of their genre-defining classic Moon Safari, which they celebrated with a tour earlier this fall. You can check out the anniversary edition of the album here. They also played the Olympic closing ceremony earlier this year alongside Phoenix. Lucky for us, Air’s here to tell us what they’ve been into.

The Revenant with Di Caprio, amazing music. I love this movie, Canada and USA at the end of the 19th Century.that was so dark ! When I was a boy, I was watching western movies like the ones with John Wayne, the good guys were the cowboys and the Indians were savages , it is certainly more nuanced -JB

well, this sound cheesy but when i am on tour and i arrive in city i don’t know, i hop on the big bus tours.. i go on the roof top , put the headphones on and then i get a whole tour of the city, it can be Sydney, san Francisco or even Monaco ( which i highly recommend ).. it s fun, has a little bit of childhood taste and also for the rest of my stay i know exactly where everything is located which make it smoother when i have to go somewhere.. -Nicolas

a good shop for costumes and coats.. buy anything from them and you will look glamourous..i bought many jackets from them and a lot of accessories like scarffes, belts ( they have a large choice of narrow belts which is very hard to find nowadays ).. it also have a lot to do with nostalagia or having the feeling to live in a movie when you ‘re dressed by them.. as a Gilles Deleuze fan i have a deleuze notion of desire ( which mean when i desire a clothe , i actually dont want the clothe but the life that goes with it ) -Nicolas

well, for the new generation it sounds nothing but normal but for and old man like me it is a game changer.. i have access to all the songs of the world and there is always someone who explain how to play it exactly like on the original album.. regarding the fact that you have the same process with any existing synthesizer, sound effect, drum machine.. it is a real geek paradise.. if only i had that when i was a teenager , my passion of music would have been really unstoppable by any boundary..It turns out that almost everyday i learn a Mccartney song or a joni mitchell  song for example and i discover all those marvelous chord changes and modulation .. it s really and open source to human genius -Nicolas

speaking of human genius, i find myself recently drove into the world of classical music live concerts. if you live in a big city there is always a hometown philharmonic orchestra and try to go to a concert at least once… you have no idea the effect it will have on you.. it’s like a cure. And as the times are what they are, being surrounded by a group of human beings gathered all together just for the love of art and beauty is something priceless nowadays. Also as a musician it is a great lesson for me to see all those top players performing in a such a humble way where the collective is more important than the individual.. classical musicians are like ballet dancers or sport athletes.. they give everything to their practice since their youngest age and it is admirable when you re facing the result.  For the best experience , I highly recommend one night at the Berlin philarmoniker .. it s the best sound and the best players. They also have this amazing video streaming app where you can watch all the concerts, live and also the archives with all the famous conductor and solo players.. it is an infinite world of pleasure.-Nicolas

my HeadQuarter to finish my day.. if you want to start the night in a good mood, just show up there, have a cup of champagne and enjoy the crowd.. for me there will always be someone that i know. we start with two people and after 30 mns, the table is made of 8 people and so on.. lots of laughs and parisian spirit. Of course the food is delicious and the people who work here are very welcoming.. as the owner ( by the way don’t go in any place in Paris without the owner in the room!!! ) -Nicolas
