Alan Resnick is a Los Angeles-based comedian and filmmaker. My introduction to Alan’s work was through iconic Adult Swim’s Infomercials like Unedited Footage of a Bear. From there I discovered alantutorial, his informative and experimental YouTube tutorial series, where I learned some survival skills and a life-saving bean bag breaking technique. While there’s plenty of overlap, perhaps a shared absurdist umbrella, you never know quite what you’ll get from an Alan Resnick project. He’s able to produce surreal comedy, disturbing horror, or both simultaneously. Today, Alan kicks off the east coast / UK tour of his hour-long comedy show ONE FUNNY HOUR, and you can find your tickets here. Lucky for us, Alan is here to tell us what he’s been into.

A.I is one of my all time favs
I love these movies. They were both advertised to the public as fun, family blockbusters but they are actually just really long and upsetting. No family would enjoy either of these films.

I’ve recently been thinking a lot about the human mouth and other orifices. Frankly, I think it’s crazy. We’re supposedly these amazing intelligent perfect beings yet we all walk around with these wretched holes that chew and suck and drip. They smell and sometimes form painful sores. It doesn’t make sense!

It’s big but it’s great. Playback smooth.

This is awesome. They shake the hell out of you while you watch the movie and shoot water in your face. Just make sure you see a movie you think will have a lot of shaky scenes otherwise it’s boring.

I love holding cameras and pushing the button that takes the picture. They can be expensive but cheap crappy ones are also really fun. Obviously you can just take photos on your phone BUT when you take photos with a real camera it feels like you are holding a gun and shooting it. You can aim at anything or anyone and just shoot it like a gun all day and it’s not a problem. Unfortunately many of the people who really like and care about cameras are disgusting.

It’s simply unbelievable what is online. Crazy stuff and they show it! It’s only getting better too. It shows me these things all day, and I don’t even have to ask. It recently showed me a video of a very ugly woman and at first, I was very mad watching it... I hated this woman (because she was ugly) but then something amazing happened... She changed herself somehow and became very beautiful... When I saw this my feelings towards the woman changed. Now I felt very positively about the woman. That wouldn't have happened without the internet.

To me... there is nothing more beautiful than human art! Unfortunately I think we have made enough of it and don’t need to make anymore.

Knowing someone is reading this and thinking about me makes me feel really good and better than everyone else. I can’t even begin to imagine how good celebrities or politicians must feel. NOTE TO THE READER: Thank you!!! You are spending some part of your limited time giving me attention and I’m not giving you any. I don’t know anything about you.
