John Roseboro is a Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter known for his innovative post-bossa sound. I had the privilege of catching him live at Elsewhere a few months ago, and it was one of the best performances I’ve seen in years. His music feels like an antidote to everything dull and lame— it’s sincere and easy on the ears (be sure to check out my favorite track, “Alt Ego,” and the music video for it that dropped last week). From living with the Amish to working as a mortician for several years, John has lived a colorful life that shines through in his music. His most recent album, Fools—a no-skips project—was released last October and is a must-listen. Lucky for us, John’s here to tell us what he’s been into.
