COMET

Comet shares why quitting is her favorite thing to do

Comet is a New York City–based musician I had the privilege of seeing twice this year— once when she supported Urika’s Bedroom, and again at the release show for her single “Opium.” I was hooked not just by the music, but also by her hypnotic stage presence (I highly recommend catching her live). Dubbed the “Princess of Nu-Grunge” by Paper Magazine — a title that couldn’t be more fitting — Comet is one of the most exciting acts emerging from the downtown music scene and current grunge revival. Her new EP, QUITTER, just dropped a few days ago, and you can check it out here. Lucky for us, Comet’s here to tell us what she’s been into.

My favorite anime of all time. I first watched it when I was 10 years old and have rewatched it countless times. It’s about an organization of women who fight monsters. Kind of like my real life.

This shade of blue is the color of my aura. It’s my color for 2025, I realized it when I painted my nails this color and saw a Yves Klein painting in London. I held my nails up to the painting and my world changed. Cobalt is REALLY close but not the same.

A source of endless musical inspiration for me. She’s not really a deep cut but more people should know about her. My favorite albums are “Slide” and “Lullaby for Liquid Pig” BUT start with “Geek the Girl” it’s her magnum opus.

Literally everyone hates this movie!!! It’s my number one comfort film and it doubles as a Christmas movie. It is a beautifully shot and scored two hour masterpiece of Kristen Stewart overacting as Princess Diana. I wish I had made it. It’s brilliant!!! I put it on at my Thanksgiving party and every single guest left.

I started doing this a year ago when I got out of a really traumatic situationship. (NO NOT YOU) Every night before bed I hug myself and say “I love you Comet”. It sounds totally tiktok therapy brain but it really has boosted my confidence at least 10%

I LOVE QUITTING. I always have. I’ve never understood people who live their lives in misery doing things they don’t want to do. Obviously if there’s something you enjoy don’t quit just because it gets hard. BUT IF YOU HATE IT WALK AWAY. You can always change your mind later. (YES YOU CAN) I have quit too many things to count and quitter was my childhood nickname. Live the life you want today. Try things and quit them.
