The London-based musician, composer, and producer stops by to tell us what he's been into.
February 24, 2026

Danny L Harle is a London-based musician, composer, and producer. The Grammy-nominated artist has been making music for over a decade and was a core founding member of the iconic collective PC Music. His newest record Cerulean, which he calls his true debut, arrived this month via XL Recordings, featuring Oklou, Clairo, and PinkPantheress, among many other current faves of ours. With a beyond impressive catalog that includes his own releases and production work for countless widely praised projects and artists (among them Dua Lipa and Caroline Polachek, both of whom also appear on Cerulean), it is definitely a must-listen. Also be sure to check out the super sick accompanying Cerulean film, directed by Lilian Hardouineau, which had its premiere on NTS and is available to stream here. Our NY readers can catch him live at Elsewhere on Feb 27, and our LA readers on March 5 at El Rey. Lucky for us, Danny’s here to tell us what he’s been into.

Often taken for granted as “the trance sound” - for me it’s an endlessly fascinating, strangely emotional portal to another world — like a string orchestra being played in an alternate dimension. This sound was originally created manually by various electronic pioneers, before being formalised by Roland as a preset on the JP-8000. Seven harmonically rich saw waves, stacked together into a sea of beauty, the reverb seems to echo into a never ending chasm, deepening this sounds evocative potential. For me, it’s the most expressive sound that exists, the the sound of infinity.
