Harrison Fishman is a New York City-based director. You may have heard of his latest project, NEIGHBORS, the popping new documentary series on HBO. Co-directed by Harrison and Dylan Redford, the series travels across the United States, from rural Montana to West Palm Beach, filming neighbors embroiled in various disputes. The show premiered this month and is now streaming (!!!). Lucky for us, Harrison’s here to tell us what he’s been into.

Surveillance Camera Man

🤳

There was this guy who called himself "Surveillance Camera Man” and basically his videos are very simple: he just goes up to people in public and starts filming them with a small camera. People tell him to stop but he just keeps filming…and he usually says nothing back. People react in all types of ways: usually they are very angry and tell him to stop. Other times, he has interesting conversations with people. He is sort of the nightmare John Wilson. His videos sorta feel like a gumball machine - you really don't know what you are going to get. They are some of my favorite videos I have ever seen.
