Mary Bronstein is a New York City-based writer, filmmaker, actor, and mother to a teenage daughter (<3). You might have seen her directorial debut, the cult mumblecore classic Yeast, in which she also stars alongside Greta Gerwig (and if you haven’t, we hear it’ll be available on the Criterion Channel in April). Last year, her newest project, If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, drew major acclaim, including a Golden Globe win and an Oscar nomination. The film stars Rose Byrne, Conan O’Brien, and A$AP Rocky, and is available to stream now on platforms like HBO Max. Beyond her film accolades, she also holds two master’s degrees (in child development and applied psychology) and has written original feminist theory for numerous academic books. Lucky for us, Mary’s here to tell us what she’s been into.
