Nastasya Popov is a Los Angeles-based writer, director, and producer and the mind behind Idiotka, her feature debut which premiered at SXSW 2025 and will be distributed by Utopia, with a theatrical release coming in 2026. The “delightful,” “laugh-out-loud” comedy stars Anna Baryshnikov and features plenty of Perfectly Imperfect alumni including Benito Skinner, Saweetie, and Owen Thiele, as well as Julia Fox and Camila Mendes. The film is currently on its fall festival run, screening tonight, October 16, at the Woodstock Film Festival and Saturday, October 18 at The Downtown Festival. Popov’s sophomore feature is already in the works under her production banner, Virgo Films, which she founded with her longtime creative collaborator and bestie Tess Cohen. Lucky for us, Nastasya’s here to tell us what she’s been into.
