I LOVE going to the Arabian perfume shop near me and stocking up on some the the most intoxicating body oils in exsistenice. You can buy them in viles or by the ML, the prices are super affordable and they have such a dizzying array or options and dupes of expensive perfumes that will probably stay on your body longer than the real thing. I like using them after I shower and the scents last a solid 8-12 hours, so I’m constantly smelling good. My favorite spot is Muhammad Place on Bedford, but if I’m in the area Monir Attar in Flatbush is worth the trek. Its fun to make a solo date out of it. If your have a few base notes in mind, they can usually guide you to what you would like right away. But also, you can just ask to smell a bunch of different scents and kind of stumble into the ones you like. In my experience, it helps to start with a base and then ask for something sweeter, stronger, more musky, ect

why not add an extra layer of chaos to your day by choosing a different perfume every morning to set your mood? eo1 by Ensar Oud is good for smelling like a freshly cured piece of leather that people have been smoking cigars aroound all day, perfect for collecting gambling debts, Yatagan by Caron smells like woods, celery and pollen, perfect for cosplaying as an old lumberjack while walking around the mini-Dubai of the Williamsburg waterfront, and pure Laotian Oud, out of the vial, smells like baby diarrhea in an old diaper but in a nice way, perfect for keeping your loved ones at arm’s distance

le labo, ds & durga, and plenty of the other indie perfumers sell samples of their perfumes for like $3 a sample! luckyscent.com also has decants of like any scent you could want. buy a sample pack and try different scents out till you find one or two you really like. then think about what aspect of the scent you like, and buy other perfumes samples with similar notes. once you find one you really love, buy a bottle!
you may find that some scents work best during the night but feel overwhelming for work, or maybe they smell great in the summer but are a little too floral and fresh for winter… half the fun of perfumes :)

i feel like internet culture has conditioned me to feel like I always have to have an opinion on something. And as a result I’m always judging an artist work as good or bad based on my own individual taste. But it’s absolutely bonkers to think that I’m the target audience for everything an artist that I like makes. Sometime, the song or the painting or the movie ect. Is not for me, and that’s fine. It doesn’t mean what they are producing is bad, it simply means it’s not resonating with me. And thinking this way allows me to respect an artists decision to experiment with their art form a bit more. Because I can only imagine how constricting it must be to feel pressure to create just for people approval and consumption. Maybe sometime the artists just wants to put out a funny little song that makes them happy. And sure, I may not get it and it may not be something I want to listen to, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad, just that it’s not for me, and that’s okay.

I don’t fish for compliments but id be lying if I said that I don’t make sure I smell extra extra good before leaving the house just to hear someone say this.

very much raw dogging the world, but it’s nice to just tap into the sounds of nature and the life around you. Also, it helps to just think and process things without added stimulations
