School made us think reading is a holy act. It is not. Its just something to do. Like watching a movie or sports. You aren’t going to be tested by anyone. Read high. Read drunk. Read 2 pages. Read half awake. Remember nothing or just some of it. It really doesn’t matter

staunch proponent of this. I also think that the joy of reading is taken from kids by school

Also, you don't need to read books in order to "read properly". You could read an informative or scientific article, you could read gossip from a magazine. The act of reading has been so diversified nowadays. It could take different forms and we must look for ways to take advantage of that democratization. Of course I would love it if people picked up a book, but I don't think you should stop there in order to read everyday and exercise your mind. Its importance relies on the conscience of the act, and like with anything ever, being present while doing it, whatever that looks like to you

the "read 2 pages" thing is so true... "Over time, a pot will fill up from just a dripping tap." - idk who said that but its one of my fave quotes

I love reading and wish I could read high because I feel like it would accentuate the imagery but I literally just get caught up and take like 10 min per page

The best $25 I spend every month. Literally pays for itself if you see one movie plus if I see a bad movie I don’t feel like I wasted money

I recently watched The Monkey for free at Chicago's Music Box Theatre — and even stuck around for Perkin's Q&A session. I have to say, it was the best movie-going experience I've ever had. An organist played the score with diabolical cymbals in the background — come on! And the movie was hilarious and equal parts gory!

Going to the movies rocks. this was honestly such a hard question. This isn’t exactly the ~best~ movie but it is a great movie to see in a theater From like 19-20 going to the Landmark in Westwood to see the Room with my friends rocked. The Room is such a funny bad movie and it’s even better at this theater because of all the canned responses the audience has to the shit happening on screen. its similar to how campy people get with Rocky Horror Picture Show. People throw plastic spoons and loudly jeer at the movie. occasionally Tommy Wiseau and maybe Greg Sestero will show up and you can take a pic. Highly recommend pregaming and then going with your friends at least once sometimes a specific audience for it will suck but overall it was always pretty fun.

they’re a flower that was always around growing up. in my mom’s pretty vases, my neighbours’ flower patches. my great-grandparents were from the netherlands and they handmade these sweet little wooden tulip yard stakes that are now split up across my extended family. whenever i go to visit my Oma or my aunts i see a couple of them in their gardens and it makes me smile. they feel very familiar to me. i also love how they look open! from what i’ve seen it’s not the most popular way to display them, but one of my favourite parts of buying a bunch of closed tulips is watching them slowly open and seeing the stamens inside.
