one of the funniest standup specials i've seen in a minute
ex-writer for SNL, best buds with Joe Pera, the biggest y2k-bam margera-Jackass enthusiast the comedy world has ever seen, still in high school... hes killing it!!!
I’ve felt lukewarm on Dan in the past, and he’s not always a laugh-out-loud comedian for me, but this special’s format hooked me (he performs for an audience of teenaged boys at his former high school). It’s funny what flops (intentionally or not) and what works for the audience. And it takes a lightly sincere turn at the end.
Comedian. Stand up special ‘for the boys’ which is filmed in front of an audience of 15 year old boys. Dumb but also so so so sharp. An insight into the lasting concussive effects of being raised on early 00s culture.
I was getting off the train and this guy noticed my Van Halen sleeveless tee and was like “cool tank top dude I love Van Halen.” And I was like “thanks man.” And then he was like “do you like Extreme?” (he was wearing a shirt from a band called Extreme). And I said “I’m not too familiar with their music.” And he was like “dude you gotta go listen to their new album, it’s SICK.” And I said “thanks for the rec man” and we fist bumped and it was wholesome. Anyways I got home and listened to Extreme and it wasn’t really my thing.
