The Master of Disguise (2002)
with a well deserved 1% on rotten tomatoes, this movie is a poorly aged comedy that wasn't even fresh upon release. unfortunately i really liked this movie as a kid and i still have a big nostalgic attachment that endears me to it, but it's hot garbage. still a fun watch if you can get through how wacky it is.

I remember being so fascinated/disturbed by the turtle outfit in the trailer as a kid and then when we finally rented or borrowed the movie I got literally sick to my stomach. Probably unrelated but the poster still gives me a Very sinister vibe!

If you like going to the movies and have a selection of AMCs near you it’s an unbelievably good deal. Even at my most destitute I have refused to cancel this membership because it’s basically a free activity anytime and a fun little date with myself. 3 movies a week for $25/month??? Film Forum is the OG but Metrograph is younger and hungrier, with a more diverse slate of films and an emphasis on rediscovered or neglected classics. Great atmosphere too, with a restaurant and bookstore. you can’t go wrong!

My dad teases me about how when I was a little kid, my favorite thing to do when I was on the landline phone with somebody—be it a relative or one of my best friends—was to breathlessly describe the things that were in my bedroom so that they could have a mental picture of everything I loved and chose to surround myself with, and where I sat at that moment in time. Perfectly Imperfect reminds me of that so thanks for always listening and for sharing with me too 💌
