This! I love to just sit at a train station and feel the air, or even getting to a party early and watching the room fill up. You get to see more life happen and develop this way.
started carrying around my notebook to help with this. i also like to put in my headphones and just listen to music. i realized constant phone use makes me stressed and doesnt give me time to reflect or think about anything
I so agree!! I purposely refuse to use my phone while waiting for things bc it's kinda depressing/disturbing/creepy/dystopian when you see a bunch of people all together staring down at their phones? I'm like, "I'm resisting that urge" and stare out the window or have a book or crossword puzzle with me. also just daydreaming and letting your brain space out sometimes is soooo undervalued!! it's how you get ideas and solve problems and just...be! those small in-between moments of "waiting" don't need to be constantly filled. I feel this way about wearing headphones in public, like in stores or whatever too...don't have to be in our little headbubbles all the time...
mg2 life really does get better when you stop living on your phone/internet but it's a hard nut to crack. It don't come easy but it's sure worth the effort of unlearning :)
If you like going to the movies and have a selection of AMCs near you itโs an unbelievably good deal. Even at my most destitute I have refused to cancel this membership because itโs basically a free activity anytime and a fun little date with myself. 3 movies a week for $25/month??? I will never shut up about this.
Film Forum is the OG but Metrograph is younger and hungrier, with a more diverse slate of films and an emphasis on rediscovered or neglected classics. Great atmosphere too, with a restaurant and bookstore. you canโt go wrong!
