I have come to really appreciate my name. it’s not terribly hard but not super familiar in the u.s. I work in food service. I was sort of recently given a short nickname that stuck. I don’t mind it, first nickname that ppl actually use. Now I offer it to customers if they ask my name. Idk why it feels vulnerable to give ppl my real name. I feel like I’m protecting a part of myself from strangers by offering the nickname. unnecessary but I am growing fond of it. Now my name feels more intimate. To be used by ppl who know me. By ppl I trust. <3

not many people my age are named it which is why i used to hate it as a kid, but i've grown to love it. precisely because it's not "fitting" for my age practically everyone in my life calls me nicknames, which are fun and silly, but are also NOT my name, so it can get tiring sometimes lol. i honestly adore it now and when someone close to me (so professors/academic figures/etc. don't count) uses it i kind of percieve it as a sign of respect, even an act of love. it's intimate, really. i'd love it if people used it more :').

I don't think we realize how important nicknames are to our society. When I was a wee lad I thought my name was un-nickname-able and my hopes and spirits were crushed. Years later I have earned a nickname so well that it has replaced my actual name. I think everyone deserves to feel the joy of having a nickname. The community and bonding attached to giving and receiving a nickname is unmatched. Truly a life altering experience.

a really fun, kooky, imaginative movie- from what I remember it felt similar to Rocky Horror maybe in aesthetics? But the story is what those critics call a “Faustian tale 😏” smirk included
