The way I didnโt learn my lesson about this the first time and repeated it 4 years laterโฆ with the same manโฆ you know what they say, fool me once
The only parking lot that matters is Heavy Metal Parking Lot.
All those jam bands seem rough: yes Phish, but also Ween, String Cheese band or whatever the hell they're called, Grateful Dead...it all probably smells terrible. Even Brian Jonestown Massacre was a dismal slog devoid of any charisma.
Festivals too feel like hard work, where no shoes have that kind of arch support. I'd like to check out a Gathering Of The Juggalos though.
Girrrrrl i just read the New Yorker feature on Phish and for a good 24 hours, considered getting into Phish..???! Inexplicable. This rec is a cautionary tale. Thank you.
If you like going to the movies and have a selection of AMCs near you itโs an unbelievably good deal. Even at my most destitute I have refused to cancel this membership because itโs basically a free activity anytime and a fun little date with myself. 3 movies a week for $25/month??? I will never shut up about this.
Film Forum is the OG but Metrograph is younger and hungrier, with a more diverse slate of films and an emphasis on rediscovered or neglected classics. Great atmosphere too, with a restaurant and bookstore. you canโt go wrong!
