Some personal lore, my ex girlfriend went to school with his youngest son. Her family are pretty good alumnus, so they got a very sought after restaurant for her graduation celebratory dinner, and were nice enough to invite me and my parents. Next table over? Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart. My father, the 80’s kid that he is, was visibly starstruck. We didn’t bother him, but he was absolutly ROCKING that earring lmao

That is SUCH a cool story. I'm so glad Harrison Ford exists.

My dad lived in Switzerland for a few years and my sister was there too and she was 12 and she met this girl gabby who was Jewish, and gabby’s dad was like this famous director so I went to gabby’s insane bat mitzvah in Switzerland and Paris Hilton was the DJ there. the party was crazy, there were people on stilts and I don’t even remember the food, but when Paris walked in they played this heavenly song and a spot light followed her as she took a selfie with literally every single person No matter what age. She told my step mom she liked her dress. my brother is always so mad he wasn’t there and regularly tells this story to people at bars

Not to brag or anything but my dad was an extra in David Lynch’s Dune so I guess you could say I’m basically Maya Hawke

when i was a kid and my family was watching robots (2006) my dad offhandedly mentioned his cousin worked on the movie which i didn’t fully internalize then and always existed in some kind of liminal space in my memory as something either i made up, or something my dad made up cut to sometime in the last year when i remembered movies have credits and imdb aggregates credits across a person’s career so i tried to find my first cousin once removed on there and sure enough, he’s had a decorated career - in addition to robots he also worked on: - the boys - game of thrones - john wick - the interview - 22 jump street - a couple of twilight movies among others; i’ve only met the guy a handful of times, and vfx work is real labor intensive with large teams working the post-production but it‘s so cool to know someone that worked on shit that i’ve actually seen and has had wild cultural significance. this must be what it feels like to be a coppola

A website with a collection of screengrabs from nearly every movie you could think of, and you can sort by film title, director, cinematographer, year, genre, country, etc. Great for visual references for lookbooks, or just to discover a new film you might be interested in seeing! I've attached one of my favorite stills, a great moment from Chungking Express (Dir. Wong Kar-Wai, 1994).

Just going out and picking up any kind of used physical media (books, CDs, DVDs, cassette tapes) makes the archivist in me happy, like I’m preserving somebody else’s story/ enjoyment of something My personal favorite thing is VHS tapes, I’ve got a decent collection (all thrifted) and they’re usually the cheapest things offered
