I own FD90 and FD7 models and use them regularly. They are absolutely wonderful devices created during that awkward period when digital cameras were a thing but SD cards were still quite expensive but 3.5" floppies were abundant.
They are bulky, slow (you can hear the disk being read and written), require carrying a stack of floppy disks and swapping them often (I can fit around 8-10 hi-res photos on one floppy). Then you have to copy photos from each disk separately to your computer with a floppy drive (I wrote a script to automate cataloging process so it's not that bad).
I added some of the pictures from both of them - the three first are from FD90 and the last one from FD7. You can see the huge difference in quality because FD7 model (0.3 megapixel) is from 1997 and FD90 (1.3 megapixel) from 2000.
Unique retro tech will always have a place in my heart. Multiple people described pictures taken with Mavicas as "unsettling" and "found footage vibe" which is exactly what I love about them

got a $40 digital camera bc i kept running out of storage on my phone. it is so fun and the quality isn't perfect, but it is nostalgic and dreamy, and shoots well in bright light. at some point having every function in one device became, somehow, addictive AND boring. more dedicated media devices in 2025!

i've always wanted to tote around a camera with me with the intention of taking more pictures. for awhile that was my grandma's vintage kodak cameo, but then developing film became so much more expensive and i stopped.
i didn't necessarily want a 2000s digital camera because having screens to look at in a camera makes me feel unecessarily judgy of myself? 😭
i found out about this by accident through an ad on reddit and i was really taken in by it having the uncomplicated energy of a film camera but the convenience/cost saving of digital cameras.
i've had this for about 3 months and i love it. i actually remember to snap quick photos but i'm not staring at the screen contemplating whether or not my teeth look weird. it's sturdy too! my clumsy self has dropped it in my rocky backyard.

I got out my Sony Bloggie ā„¢ļø that I hadn’t touched in 11 years (!) and it’s perfect. I was thinking of wasting money on some new small non-disposable camera to participate in the awakened phenomenon of using a digital camera. I did have fun taking a trip down memory lane, there are pictures (+ versions) of myself I haven’t seen in forever. It was super cool.
ALSO the bloggie is just awesome! I got it as a gift to record youtube videos as a kid (lol). I carried it around like a phone and felt so mature, but it’s also sooo cool that’s it’s literally that small. The resolution is good, the USB is INSIDE the camera for charging/transferring data to a computer (no cables!), it doesn’t need SD cards at all, and you can just take it anywhere!. I’ve already taken selfies and blown my mind with how much fun i’m having.
If u must purchase a camera…maybe get a refurbished bloggie….? But use any of your old cameras pls. Beat the consumerism demon. Ur old camera is (probably) just as cool as mine
