my tiktok fyp is covered with people going back and forth about classic literature and the morality behind consuming it. i can see where people are coming from and how it can be uncomfortable to read books with morally ambiguous themes or language but at the same time i don't believe those books are written, read, or taught with the intention of every ideology being absorbed uncritically and taken as an endorsement. i also don't think enjoying older books is a reflection of a person's morals. i'm rambling but what are everyone else's thoughts?
