I think we are confusing other people having the same opinion as us as communities. Communities are inherently social, and are formed by intimate relationships and trust with fellow neighbors. How can this be formed on a large scale if we don’t actually know these people and vice versa. How can true community action happen when they don’t know about your mom being denied insurance or your local park getting turned into a strip mall? Obviously broader social movements can be spread through social media, like the BLM protests, but that still required us to collectivize LOCALLY and IN-PERSON. I think digital friendships can happen, but for it to become a community, it needs to happen off the internet. When I think of TikTok communities I think of hype-houses lol. PS not in support of the ban.
