If you’ve switched over to Tidal can u pls tell me ur honest opinion. The reviews I’ve been able to source are vague and varied. How’s the audio quality, user interface, discovery features, and most importantly their music library? I’m a long time Spotify user, but btwn the whole investing millions into AI military tech and their pro-rata royalties that rip off artist—I’m at a loss. Ik it may be trivial, but spending the extra money I do have on a subscription that will eventually fund AI military tech companies makes me glib. Not taking my money elsewhere is just submitting to ignorance at the end of the day. I’ve seen Tidal listed as an alternative. Definitely at the start of my research on this platform (royalty system/general ethics/etc), hopefully their CEO isn’t also a monopolizing money hungry fat cat. Lol :/ It may be silly, but I have to admit, I am wildly emotionally attached to my Spotify playlists. So, I’d also be grateful to anyone who will share tips or tricks for options downloading or transferring playlists. To be honest, the audiophile community can be really judgy, and I’m aware the topic of AI and royalties and frankly anything has potential to morph into a touchy subject. In an effort to get ahead of any possible awkwardness the best I can, I will disclaim the following: As many 20-something’s are, I’m buku broke at this time, and can’t afford Bandcamp and/or physical media. Of course in my idealized future I exclusively listen to physical media. I’ve got all my playlists recorded on cassette form, a crazy niche vintage hi-fi set up w/ subs, and 4 tall floor-standing speakers. All the music-listening-nerd gadgets and gizmos a girl could hope for. My music catalog, the most expansive of anyone I know. However, for now I settle on searching for a realistic alternative platform.
