Cooper B. Handy (aka LUCY) is a Massachusetts-based musician and artist, and my most listened to artist of the year. Discovery algorithms can’t express real love (yet…), so when friend of the newsletter & fellow Masshole Joe Kerwin told me about his love for an outsider musician from our home state named “LUCY” I could tell he was really something special. Cooper’s prolific catalog of otherworldly, catchy, and sincere idiom-filled experimental pop and unique style of music videos is easy to get lost in for hours, and I encourage you to do just that. I could rant about his music all day, but now is not the time nor place, nor do I have the space. Lucky for us, Cooper is here to tell us what he’s been into.

🤝
Treat other people you meet in a way that you’d want people to treat you for real it’s gooood. And if people are treating you in a way you don’t like, there’s no need to treat them at all.
👣
If you explore like 6 miles every day, you might notice that your problems become less of problems. No need to buy any gear~just exploring the area you live in can help a lot I think. It ends up being easy to become one with your surroundings.
🎵
Is one of the best ever I think.
🎶
An album that people don’t know about that people should know about? It’s pretty much all bangers and there’s a lot to learn from it (sonically lyrically+stylistically).
💦
Drinking a ton of water all day every day especially if you go hard in life. Easy to forget but also easy to remember. Not only drinking water but going to be around water~if you live near the ocean that’s lucky and you can take advantage of its power~ponds lakes and rivers too though, putting yourself around these places can help I do think.
🚫
Trying to let go of jealous energy as much as possible is something I believe has saved my life so far. You are great. No need to compete with your peers or even compare yourself to them. Everyone has such different things goin on in every way, and to base achievements or successes upon others can be very damaging. Rock with yourself please
Everyone I’ve met who thinks they know what’s going ends up wrong or suffering. Accepting that you don’t know what’s going on can be very helpful and freeing.
