Grant Singer is a Los Angeles-based filmmaker and music video director. Over the last decade he’s made iconic music videos for legendary artists such as Lorde, Ariel Pink, Sky Ferreira, Taylor Swift, Slowdive, and the Weeknd, while experimenting with short films, TV, and commercials. Earlier this fall he released his debut feature film Reptile, a slick detective thriller starring Benicio Del Toro, Justin Timberlake, and Alicia Silverstone, that topped Netflix’s Global Film Chart for weeks. I saw it at the NYC premiere and remember being rattled by the gunshots (which felt fucking loud), sucked into the mystery, and totally blown away by many of the film’s sequences. Lucky for us, Grant is here to tell us what he’s been into.

Anyone who knows me knows there's always a green bottle somewhere in my vicinity. I've been drinking this water for over 15 years, before it was popular. When I was in Austin for a job I went to the deli and picked some up and as the gentleman was checking me out he says, "Elvis water, huh." I ask him, "What do you mean?" and he goes, "Elvis used to only drink Mountain Valley Water. It was like his thing." When you go to Ojai go to this spot in Meiners Oaks and get the carrot juice. Sometimes the simplest things in life are also the best. This carrot juice is transcendental. No idea why but I don't ask questions. I just drink.

Rock is back. We all know he's the best but I went to his show last week after he dj'd my film's afterparty and I'm looking around and it was such a gratifying feeling to see kids are cool again. There was a while there I was starting to worry. Music's in a very good place with him at the forefront.
