IKIRU (1952)

I always get teary-eyed when I watch this film. Recommend going into it blind. It is made by the legendary Akira Kurosawa. Amazing melodrama.

“Im still here” is the movie of the year

Devastating. absolute gut punch. one of those where you become so immersed in the actor that you forget you’re watching a performance. Cannot stop thinking about this story and the quiet and absolute strength and perseverance of Eunice.

Mountain Valley Water

Anyone who knows me knows there's always a green bottle somewhere in my vicinity. I've been drinking this water for over 15 years, before it was popular. When I was in Austin for a job I went to the deli and picked some up and as the gentleman was checking me out he says, "Elvis water, huh." I ask him, "What do you mean?" and he goes, "Elvis used to only drink Mountain Valley Water. It was like his thing." Turns out, on the MV website, they remark that it was the water Elvis exclusively drank and if it was good enough for Elvis...

Carrot juice at The Farmer and the Cook

When you go to Ojai go to this spot in Meiners Oaks and get the carrot juice. Sometimes the simplest things in life are also the best. This carrot juice is transcendental. No idea why but I don't ask questions. I just drink.
