Franz Lyons is a Baltimore-based musician. You might know him as the powerhouse bassist of the Grammy-nominated hardcore band Turnstile. Franz also has a sick sense of swag that earned him a recent Guess Jeans campaign — it’s no wonder The Face dubbed him "the coolest bass player right now." Turnstile’s highly anticipated new album, NEVER ENOUGH, dropped earlier this month, and the accompanying visual album premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. If you haven’t had a chance to listen yet, check it out here. Don’t miss out on the chance to see them live as Turnstile kicks off their North American tour on September 15th. Lucky for us, Franz is here to tell us what he’s been into.

ahhh they are so cool! dressed up or dressed down they can complete an outfit. sweatpants and fresh air force ones or baggy denim a rick owens ramones it all feels good and i like to collect for any occasion… or none at all. it’s fun to use them as an indicator of travel or a little pick me up. i like to collect a range of them and put em to work with my closet.

every since i got my first real skateboard at a santa cruz demo in columbus ohio at dodge skatepark i was hooked. not only endless trips and adventures with friends learning how to navigate life and live how you want. such a cool thing to learn that inadvertently teaches you perseverance and encourages independence. it’s something that’s hard to get if you never loved it, and i don’t think i’ll ever stop loving it.

in my life i’ve owned several. from the 240 model all the way to xc90 model. i lean toward the older. my favourite being my 1984 volvo 240 sedan affectionately known as hershey. finished a tour with our band in chicago and i stuck around to buy it and drove it back to ohio. funny thing is i broke down on the indiana state line and had to get it towed/ride with the tow truck 199 miles home.

♥️
all time creators. excellent design, and infinite creators. ayman and osama are complete legends. continuously making insane pieces they create all themselves and have had countless pro skateboarder collaborations, brand collaborations including vans and nike sb. but my fav of all time is when they link up with us (turnstile) and produce clothes in the theme of our record and their brand view.
