all time creators. excellent design, and infinite creators. ayman and osama are complete legends. continuously making insane pieces they create all themselves and have had countless pro skateboarder collaborations, brand collaborations including vans and nike sb. but my fav of all time is when they link up with us (turnstile) and produce clothes in the theme of our record and their brand view.

Pontus Alv, the creator of Polar and Last Resort AB is a remarkably talented skateboarder, filmmaker and clothing designer. If you’re familiar, there is no denying this. Polar has been making some of the hottest graphics, skateboard shapes, clothing and videos for years and the polar jeans/pants, if you’ve worn them, are THE pant. Pontus just announced his new shoe brand, Last Resort AB. They look super clean and simplistic, looking almost like a nice mixture of a vans era and converse one star. Excited to try a pair whenever they’re available again.

I heard of William Ellery through a Van Neistat youtube video (which honestly sub-rec, I’ve been pretty into his youtube recently, as someone trying to get better at being “handy”). According to William Ellery’s brand info page, a main goal is to advance the ideal that “it is vital to preserve the instinct to explore”. This comes through in a manner of really creative and interesting ways. There are “keepsake hats” with nylon mesh strapped over the logo (using a fisherman’s knot) providing a little strap-in area for keepsakes, “seatpack chairs “ fashioned out of what seems to be an inflatable dinghy, and of course the legendary wool socks, to be worn year-round. The design feels like an evolution beyond Tom Sachs, where the founder worked as a lead designer, with an oft hand-drawn logo and utilitarian materials everywhere. Each item feels very imaginitive and super cohesive, like they’re all a prop in some sequel to moonrise kingdom.

in my life i’ve owned several. from the 240 model all the way to xc90 model. i lean toward the older. my favourite being my 1984 volvo 240 sedan affectionately known as hershey. finished a tour with our band in chicago and i stuck around to buy it and drove it back to ohio. funny thing is i broke down on the indiana state line and had to get it towed/ride with the tow truck 199 miles home.

every since i got my first real skateboard at a santa cruz demo in columbus ohio at dodge skatepark i was hooked. not only endless trips and adventures with friends learning how to navigate life and live how you want. such a cool thing to learn that inadvertently teaches you perseverance and encourages independence. it’s something that’s hard to get if you never loved it, and i don’t think i’ll ever stop loving it.
