I recently fucked my back up. It was sudden, unexpected, painful, and now I’m stuck with it. Mending it on an infinity loop of physical therapy, cortisone shots, heating pads, and now: Reformer Pilates. It’s reshaping my body and is one of the few exercises I can do at length without cursing my back out for giving up on me at 30. I can’t do mat, personal thing really, but highly recommend everybody get on a reformer at least once. It’s a strange sensation at first, working out laying down, but once you get into the rhythm of the movements and ride the breathwork wave, reformer pilates is powerfully healing (and strengthening). Also it’s kind of a lazy girl's hard workout.

Great for any age and skill level. I like to imagine that I am an invalid during WWI, honing and toning my muscles while bedridden

I’ve been doing it for years and the hype is true. Stronger core, better posture, increased flexibility, a more balanced body composition, deep sense of mindfulness
The only downside is how ridiculously $$expensive$$ it is, but most studios offer new clients specials and/or class packs at a discount.

If you’re from brooklyn or new york city or just moved here, i know, this is cliche. But i! Don’t! Care! The truffle popcorn is addicting, even if I'm farting for the rest of the movie, it’s worth it. Plus they have cute little trailers to gab about with your date or friend, but i also go alone because nobody tried to have small talk with you at the movies and you can just disassociate peacefully in blissful high-power air conditioning on a hot nyc summer day. They have guest curators on a monthly basis and do fun screenings of old flicks. Highly recommend it. Nitehawk > Alamo.

Erin is at the forefront of trans journalism and focuses her daily newsletter on issues that every other major/minor news outlet is significantly underreporting on or ignoring altogether. Reed’s independent reporting is succinct in ways i personally appreciate because, while it is necessary to stay informed on current policies shifts as it affects my livelihood, I also can’t ruminate in it without giving way to a manically typing “HOW TO LEAVE AMERICA” into my browser while I scarf down a Nerds Rope wishing things could be different. So, for that, I’m fucking grateful she keeps it simple and accessible. Subscribe, share, subscribe, share. Her work is imperative to trans safety and liberation.

It’s actually terrifying at first, but even around the block it’s clarifying and helps me reset. I’ll literally walk out of my office and walk around the block phoneless and count pigeons to get back in my body and press restart.
