I would be remiss to not mention Miharu Koshi. Her music crosses genres, so depending on your mood there’s always some Koshi that will hit the mark. Her vocals are coquettish and perfect for getting you in the mood to do anything. Many albums are produced by Haruomi Hosono, including my electro favorite Tutu (1983). I also love the more jazzy/chanson Madame Crooner (2013).
A great mix of ambient pop music, remixes, sound collages, more experimental tracks, and English covers of her songs. Definitely a hidden gem (also it was produced by Ryuichi Sakamoto who’s one of my favorite musicians ever)
Her dreamy vocals interlaced with swelling choruses, matched with the stealthy jamming of some jazzy 70s players will never disappoint. Keep coming back to this album as its sure to put the rest of my day on a better track than before. Thanks Taeko 💋
