neo yokio on netflix

i recently came across this show while researching some quotes for a close friend's birthday card. she's a huge vampire weekend fan, so i was doing a deep deep dive into ezra koenig and stumbled upon this show from 2018 that was apparently widely criticized at the time (save for a small but loyal fanbase), and never made it past the first season (plus a holiday special). the song that i ended up finding for her birthday card was from the show [friend like u] and, after listening to it, decided i had to watch the show. and MY GOD. the show was so ahead of its time. it is hilarious and the world building is genuinely interesting - i ended the season wanting to know more about the rules of this world, its history, and genuinely wishing that there was more to watch. the last episode set it up for a whole run of seasons that we sadly never get to see. not to mention a suprisingly star-studded cast - jaden smith does do an ... interesting job voice acting, but imo it just adds to the charm. i am so disappointed that the show originally fell on unappreciative ears :( it would do NUMBERS had it been released more recently. anyway TLDR, if you're looking for a fun and silly anime that will suck you in and give you a great time for a day or two, neo yokio is the one for you.

Teasing master takagi-san (2024 Live Action drama)

a sweet, feel-good japanese tv series about two middle school students. the protagonist, nishikita, is constantly teased by his classmate, takagi, who sits next to him at school. he tries his best to tease her back, but it always ends in failure. it’s really cute and I always find myself giggling and kicking my feet watching it. it’s actually a live action adaptation of a manga and anime of the same name ^^

observing myself as though i am another person

I’ve been used to suppressing myself my whole life that i find it difficult to know how im actually feeling or what im actually thinking sometimes. It made it harder to love myself or do things that are good for me. But i always knew how to show love and care to others around me. i realized (quite recently) that i can show the same love and care if i treat myself like another person. I’ll just be sitting down listening to her(me) for a long time, no judgement. It’s a seemingly simple act, but something i havent made the space for until now

journaling (i keep 4)

I am a pretty obsessive documenter. I seem to have bad memory, which got me into keeping record of things as much as i can. I’ll be taking photos on my iphone, videos on my camcorder (for onion vlogs i make every month), and i keep FOUR diaries with all different purposes. 1: sorta like a gratitude journal. Simple bullet points of things i “liked, lacked, learned, longed for” and thank yous. 2: a “throw up” notebook where i throw up all my thoughts. 3: a simple scheduler thats a weekly format hobonichi. 4: an hourly day-to-day diary that i fill up retroactively to learn any patterns and habits. Kinda like self-research.

“Kimbap Lab”

I’ve been cooking more and trying to order delivery less if poss.. But when i do order food its HERE. i would eat kimbap from Kimbap labs 7 days out of the week if i could. My go-to order is the “Spicy Pork Kimbap Roll” - it’s a roll with a generous amount of Jaeyookbokkeum style pork in it. My choice of side is kimchi(which the kimchi here slaps) and for sauce i highly recommend the seaweed purée.
