I trace my love of The New Yorker to growing up visiting my grandparents in California. They wallpapered their powder room with New Yorker covers from the 1970s, and the entire look of the room was imprinted on me. When they moved away in the 2010s, I was devastated. Fast forward to 2018, I recreated a version of their bathroom in a gallery in Maryland, teaching myself how to wallpaper from my collection of New Yorker coversāand my cousinās collection too, turns out heād also had the same idea to save covers for his own future bathroom.
For all you Duchamp heads out there, I loved purchasing a toilet to put on display as art, a nod to his famous work āFountainā (1917)!
