He is my favorite artist of all time by far. He’s insane. “They say the best rappers are usually dead”. His music is so catchy in a unique way. Some of my favorite lines of his are “I kill the game like Jeffrey Dahmer did the 80s” and “young and on my grind working harder than your dad worked”. He’s so confident. I listen to his music also partly because I want to be that confident. He was so talented. My favorite album is GOOD AM. I first discovered him at like 14 and it seeped into my soul. I’ve never connected with an artist so much. He is from Pennsylvania which we have in common. We also have in common his line “leave it all behind and go to California”.
I know it isn't good to look up to celebrities, but something about Mac Demarco absolutely entranced me from the minute I first listened to one of his songs. It was 2019 on a hot summer night. I was alone on my deck, having just taken acid for the very first time an hour and a half prior. The mutual friend I got it from texted me a recommendation that I listen to 'Ode to Viceroy" once I hit peak, and so I stuck my headphones in my ears and turned it on. I think I absorbed every single note in that song on a molecular level right then and there. I really got into his music over the next year, and enjoyed watching interviews and whatever other content about him had been put out. I've unfortunately never gotten the chance to see him live, and I'm not sure if he will ever perform again on a tour nearby where I live, but a girl can dream. I had hopped on the bandwagon a bit too late I fear. Oh well, I still love all the music he puts out, regardless if he tours again or not. He just seems like such a fun guy, and seems to keep things weird and real. The way things ought to be.
Gumby was my favorite show as a teenager. Yes a teenager. I found the entire series on YouTube and watched all of it. It’s so well done and the plots are insane. In my favorite episode Gumby and Pokie, his other clay friend that is also a horse, decide to bake a pie. Before they can even start one of the pies starts talking to him and says “come on in” so they go into the oven. They discover a pie making factory inside the oven. They learn how pies are made and then the pies turn on them. It’s a wild story and my favorite quote is “the dough needs the dough?” “No it KNEADS it.” All the episodes are strange like that. And he has more clay friends that do crazy stuff — I’m telling you this show is like nothing else.
