Thereās simply no other Key Lime Pie. Whenever Iām in Red Hook I always stop by Steveās for a cup of coffee, pie to go, and a walk down the pier. I try to bring a Steveās pie to functions and birthdays with friends. Always a crowd pleaser. Go get some pie!
been going there since i was 8. my dad is a true pie aficionado who got me hooked. he had key lime pie at his wedding instead of cake (it was pie chicks in martha's vineyard which was also pretty good) idk if they have key lime, but on a pie related topic four and twenty blackbirds is hands down the best apple pie EVER. i might make a separate rec when i get go back but i used to live three blocks away from them from the ages of 5-12 and i got a slice every friday after school so the workers knew who i was so obviously not biased here but yeah i love pie story over
A freshly baked slice of cherry pie is so good itās like touching God. Everyone already likes all the berry pies cause theyāre good. Pumpkin, Sweet potato, and Pecan are holiday staples. I just wanna shout out some of the harder to find varieties that are also incredible. Shout out to:
- key lime
- coconut creme
- banoffee
- Lemon meringue Itās really hard to find a truly good slice of pie, esp if itās one of the more uncommon varieties. Feels like you kinda just have to do it yourself or know someone, either of which can be good in their own way, but it would be nice to just be able to stop at a diner or cafe late at night and get an amazing slice of pie and some coffee. Also feels like America should have
more savory pies than chicken pot pie but thatās for another day. Anyways, if you have a good slice of pie, cherish it.
Brian is one of the hardest working street film photographers in New York City. I love his ability to curate photo carousels with linear narrative themes. He captures authentic moments that happened just behind you. His work is a reminder that New York is alive and odd in all the right places when you arenāt looking. Sometimes when he leaves the Fantasy office in Williamsburg, he walks to Harlem just to take pictures along the way. Iāve seen some of his unreleased projects and youāll be doing yourself a favor if you follow along too.
I was renting a house upstate around Ashokan Reservoir and stumbled on this almond butter at a local grocery store. Itās nothing but almonds! The branding is terrible but itās the best almond butter Iāve ever had. Itās not too creamy or thick, filled with fine chunks of fresh almonds. When I returned home it was hard to find, so I ordered a case online. If youāve never tried a dollop of almond butter on a spoon and with a single green grape ā Iāll see you on the other side.
Iāve been following Juan Wuaters (The Beets) solo efforts for a few years now, and he continues to stay in rotation. His new album Real Life Situations (Captured Tracks) explores multiple genres and was made during isolation in 2020 quarantine. Favorites are āLocuraā and āPresentationā.
