Okay, first off, thereās absolutely nothing musical about me. Iāve always been hesitant to pick up an instrument and learn how to play because I thought I needed to learn how to read music, but thatās not the case. My roommate Gabe convinced me to get a Ukulele because all I needed to do was learn to play the chords. Iāve been using Ukulele Tabs for chords, and I gotta say, it was a slightly rough start, but once you get it, itās kind of addicting to want to learn how to play more songs. If youāve been meaning to try to learn how to play an instrument, I highly recommend getting one, beginner ukuleles are only around $30-$50. Itās been a week so far, and ya boy has been strumming Riptide like Iām Vance Joy (jk, but itās not bad).

and ask any guitar friends to teach you basic chords. I learnt guitar by having my dad teach me some basic chords, then I learnt the entire The Kooks first record through tabs, and then Laura Marlingās Alas I Cannot Swim. And from that I basically learnt all the chords you need, and to finger pick and strum in different patterns. If something was a little more complicated id look up YouTube videos of people playing stuff to see what their hands were doing. I learnt how to play covers on piano purely from YouTube tutorials. And Iām literally a musician! its maybe not like the way to learn āproperlyā but it is the way that worked for me! I was in your same position when I was younger & decided to take lessons: friend, it completely made me hate the idea of playing guitar. I wanted to rock and roll but they were having me learn hot cross buns. One day I put my guitar into its case and slid it back under my bed where it stayed for years.
I only took it out again after some friends and I jokingly created a band, ironically.
At that point there was no taskmaster other than my whimsy, so I learned what a power chord was and went bananas. With every goofy punk song we wrote, it seemed like Iād learn a new technique or chord to utilize and it was fun and exciting.
After awhile I learned about tablature and how many people would notate the songs I loved, and so I used those to pick up new progressions and such. It was helpful because every now and again a song would deploy something I had never tried, but it was easy to learn when motivated by the song, ya know?
Anyhow, thatās my two cents.

Iāve never been to Disney as a kid and as I grew older I always felt like I was too old for it. I spontaneously tagged along with my family the day before they left and I think that was the best decision Iāve ever made. Iām a huge fan of Star Wars and Avatar, and even as an adult I think I had the best week of my life and I felt like a kid again. I legitimately had real tears of joy on some of the rides. Itās never too late!

While everyone is raving about their trendy nonstick pans, Iām here to bring the spotlight back to cast iron cookware. Thereās a huge stigma around how hard it is to take care of cast irons, but itās really not bad! You just gotta keep using it, and over time, it basically becomes nonstick. This article has sent off a tangent, and now I am a proud owner of a well-seasoned cast iron pan and griddle.

Antique shops have a special place in my heart because it reminds me of my childhood road trips. When I was little, I always thought antique shops were just useless junk. As I grew older, Iāve learned to appreciate the ājunkā a bit more. Browsing through the aisles, they kind of feel like a time machine. My top things to look out for are vintage cameras, dutch ovens, and vintage porcelain.
