It’s just fascinating. For example, recently I died in a dream but only briefly. I had a heart attack then my visual field went static black - like a short circuiting TV set. After someone revived me, an old friend put her fingers on my carotid pulse and said, “your heartbeat’s as erratic as a golden retriever.” I awoke convinced death is like “cutting to black”. Or at least “cutting to”. With distance, it’s bizarre to me that I gave the dream creedence. But I suppose that’s how your unconscious convinces you of things; definitively but not necessarily with empirical evidence.

Sue me, I love David Lynch. He loves dreams. He said, “The nervous system functions in a fourth, unique way, as different as dreaming is from sleeping as sleeping is from waking. When you transcend, it's the only experience that lights the full brain on an EEG machine. It's the only experience that utilizes the full brain.” Anytime I have a dream that stays with me when I wake up, I grab my phone and write it down in my notes. Here’s a snippet from a recent one, “I had to put on a gown in the tiniest bathroom. A famous actress grabs my hand and we run to a huge empty room with carpet everywhere. Rolling around on the floor laughing and then she’s crying to me telling me really sad things that are going on in her life. I really wanted to take a picture of the tears on her face but felt like i couldn’t.

i will never not be entertained by what my subconscious creates during my rest time. recently, (25/05) my notes app reads: [warning, almost incomprehensible] trying to get a premium bird watching card to enter the place i wanted to go but have to go through a ridiculous amount of things. woman asking me to join her on a mission and when i get tied up in a section i have to make racist jokes until i can be let go. he dies, i knock his head into concrete and my precious white dog (a backwards walking goat) is for some reason sacrificed. our taxi back is a car made with loose scraps of wood help. am i okay.. there's actually so much symbolism here i don't know if i should dare explain how it relates to my life

Banana is an orange pomeranian. He’s objectively the cutest dog in the neighborhood, and a local celebrity; people we’ve never met approach us and ask, “is this Banana?” My landlord is also a local celebrity because he owns many of the apartments around us. My dream is to hold a race for Mayor of Windsor Terrace between my landlord and Banana and I’d bet the house (his house) that Banana would win. They’re both friendly and love bird watching and the Grateful Dead, but surely the landlord’s platform would have to do with raising rent while Banana’s would be allowing pets in Greenwood Cemetery. Banana can’t do many tricks like “paw” or “twirl” but he’s awesome at fetch.

It’s your house - do whatever you want there - but why do you want your life to smell like a malignant Skittle? Vaping weed inside? That’s fine.
