I read this book for my IB English class, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It explores human connection, the afterlife, morality, classism, family, spirituality, and more. Most of all, the absurdism and satirical elements tie everything together to form an emotional story that takes readers through the process of grief and self-acceptance alongside the narrator, Yang Fei. If you are looking for a book that broadens your perspective and empathy, be sure to give this one a try. -224 pages, so it is a good length -split into 7 parts: 7 ‘days’ -not a challenging read, but meaningful and packs a punch

a friend rec’d this for me 2 yrs ago, & I thought, “what kind of book is called cloud cuckoo land.” I went into it pretty blind, & I think u should do the same. it has Greek mythology, themes of climate anxiety, the interconnectedness of humanity, etc. so many good things & beautifully written. I just finished it & I’m still processing my thoughts so none of this is eloquently written but i highly recommend!!

"You can't see one Franco film until you've seen them all.” - Tim Lucas, Video Watchdog Issue #1 • “Jesús Franco Manera (1930-2013), better known to most of us as Jess Franco (and also by dozens of other pseudonyms), was perhaps the most prolific filmmaker of modern times. By IMDB's count he made 195 feature films. During his peak period he averaged 9 films per year.” - from the Austin Film Society overview of Franco. •
