My friend Maddy (No Good With Secrets, Ogbert The Nerd) had a box of Buc-ee's Beaver Nuggets snack delivered to my apartment upon my inquiry via Instagram as to what they were. Despite seeing the southern convenience store chain frequently referenced on social media I have never been to a Buc-ee's and was shocked to find out how great this bag of brown sugar flavored corn puffs actually was. If you are a fan of Waffle Crisp cereal or anything labeled "contains a bioengineered food ingredient" I recommend trying these out if you get the chance.

Chris (from my podcast) and I went on a road trip through the south a couple of months ago and his partner Alix happens to be gluten-free. We stopped at some janky ass Whole Foods in hopes of getting some super-spreader salad bar action that I’d been so desperately missing in California. Unfortunately, their selection was shit and everyone ordered sushi for some reason, but someone had the smarts to grab a bag of these for the road. Every one of us in the car could not stop crunching, I became ravenous, hoarding the nuggets. All GF foods have a different crunch to them, sometimes for the better, usually not, but these have a severe crunch, as Chris told Phoebe Bridgers on a recent episode of our pod. After researching them, they’re made with super sustainable sorghum as the base, which is common in the south, it kinda looks like a smaller popcorn kernel, and pops up just the same. If you go to a fancy restaurant in the Carolinas that hasn’t changed in a decade, you might find pops of sorghum on the plate next to some piece of fish or something.

These little sticks taste like a baked potato with butter. These are a fun snack to seek out on a weekend. Also great to sneak in to the movies.

When I moved to New York the first time, I worked at a now-defunct music venue near Pumps and would go to the combination BP/Dunkin where I survived off of their incredibly cheap hashbrowns and iced coffee for an extended period. This time around, I have eaten them maybe 5 times a week, for...well, similar reasons. If anyone is not aware, the Dunkin App will reward you with free hashbrowns if you buy, like, 2 things. If you've made it all the way to the end of this rambling ode to the potato coin I highly recommend downloading the Dunkin App and raking in the savings
