Originally from Austin, Texas, Catcher is a 6 piece Post Punk band making waves in New York with their raw, chaotic, hallowing sound. Their music is a callback to earlier Post Punk icons like Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Rowland S Howard, The Birthday Party, and Crime and the City Solution. They are definitely ones to watch, and you should catch them before they get too big.

Originally called “the boys next door” (Which has great music) the birthday party emerged in the 1980’s, making bleak noises that matched Nick Cave’s difficult lyrics about religion, violence and perversity.
Honestly that sounds too harsh but the sounds are a pleasure to listen to and you feel as if your life is about to have a confrontation against school bullies but everything will fall apart

X-Cetra is the latest Numero Group offering, whose releases run the gamut from early White Zombie to lost gospel. This is neither. This is sleepover-core.
In the year 2000, four pre-teen friends Jessica, Ayden, Janet, and Mary wanted to create their own pop group. Armed with a microphone, they recorded vocals and then one of their mothers married those vocals to like some obscure German minimal wave musician.
One of the kids, Ayden Mayeri, grew up to be a successful actor and has revisited some of these recordings over the years and now they have come to fruition with a killer physical release complete with old photos and doodles.

70s punk band that was part of the early punk scene at CBGB. The inventors of psychobilly (a term made for the crazed combo of punk and rockabilly). They have a truly unique sound, and are my favorite to dance to in my room alone at night. They are truly at their best though performing here at the California State Mental Hospital in Napa. Truly deranged.

Poet & songwriter best known as the frontman of “Silver Jews,“ and the lesser known “Purple Mountains,“ Berman has a way of exploring the beauty in the darker aspects of life. Berman tragically took his in 2019. He had such a special way with words both as a poet and a songwriter. My favorite song of his, “Famous Eyes” is linked above.

Founded in 1995, Broadcast was an English band that drew influences from 60s psychedelia, electronic, and experimental music. Following the death of their lead singer in 2011, Broadcast has found a new life and a cult following due to the mystery surrounding the band. I’ve linked my favorite album, Tender Buttons above.

I’m very proud of my friends from Perfectly Imperfect and Baby’s All Right for dropping out of SXSW, and for standing in solidarity with the people of Palestine. Free Palestine 🍉
