I believe it's far more polite than telling someone you barely know you're not particularly fond of them; or that whatever they're asking you to do is stupid and you're not interested.
alternatively, getting ghosted keeps you humble. this is one of modern technologies greatest gifts and must be treated as such.
pissbowling very important Q re ethical date maximum!!! i dont have the answer but... i salute the inquiry and overall embrace that none of us have any idea wtf is going on
I wrote the same rec a while ago but deleted it bc there‘s so much shaming around ghosting and i felt embarrassed. But really, with technology came an unreasonable expectation of being always open to communication, always responsive, always emotionally involved. The human brain (or at least my brain) cant manage all that. I wish ghosting wouldn’t be generally considered necessarily evil, because most of the times it’s just people trying to handle their time and live their lives.
ghosting after like 1 or 2 dates is fine but after that I appreciate or do a quick like hey!! this isn’t for me
What is the ethical date maximum for ghosting
when i worked at the Apple Store / Genius Bar in college, we were trained on "assuming positive intent" from customers and peers. at the time, when i was a shithead 20-year-old, i thought this phrase was such bullshit. of course i can tell when someone has malicious intent, why not respond in kind! but now that i'm a bit older, i've realized the real wisdom behind the idea "assume positive intent" is that, when faced with interpersonal conflict, it's better to take the path of least resistance and keep your cool. for example, if i'm getting kind of annoyed with someone at work and i want to write a snarky email, i find it best to walk away from the keyboard and write my response when i'm feeling less activated. the result is that i can feel good about how i handle my feelings, i reflect better on other people, and i'm being an actual grown up. ;~)
the best and easiest to access archive of free movies I've seen on the internet. this google drive folder has thousands of films and basically covers the entire history of tasteful, cool, and/or groundbreaking cinema. there are deep cuts like Abel Ferrara's debut feature - 9 Lives of a Wet Pussy (a porno from 1970) - and classics like Barry Lyndon. There's hundreds of random DVD extras, a bunch of licensed stock footage, curated collections in folders like "Male Manipulators" and definitely a lot of stuff I haven't figured out yet. It's kind of an unorganized shit show in there but you gotta dig through dirt to find gold, so just shut up and grab ur shovel. I wish I found this when I was a teenager because it would have changed my life.
