Not to be that guy but cooking really is my sanity... any time I feel like a weirdo or a slug or a bump on a log I find a recipe in a cookbook or nyt cooking that I already have the ingredients for and I spend 2x the estimated time making it and by the end I feel way better AND I have a delicious meal to eat...

something about cooking is just so peaceful. monotonous and obligatory, sure, but it’s just a little sliver of calmness in my day that reminds me of when i did it with my mom or my dad or my grandmother. i now love to cook for myself but especially for other people

recently I've been "cooking" just for myself for fun, and I have found some very yummy recipes!!! I put "cooking" in quotes because I don't think it technically counts as real, classical cooking, more of just mixing things together, but it's so fun and so yummy! I've been mainly making salads, but I am experimenting with other things. it is so cool to take certain elements from different recipes and combining them to make something entirely new!
