Especially in a smaller, quieter theater. There’s nothing so peaceful and it makes me feel super independent and grounded. I don’t go to big names like AMC or Marcus normally anyway, but it’s essential to try out your local theaters as well! Mine is super cheap and has the recliners and heated seats- I don’t see why I’d go to any other theater!

It’s peaceful and allows me to really reflect on what I’m watching. I personally see people do it often, so I don’t think it’s become taboo!

i get why people only think of movies as a social event, but seeing a movie in a theater alone is the most freeing and therapeutic thing that i do in my day to day life. gone are the moments of trying to pick something that you think a group of people would like. gone is the anxiety of always thinking about what your friend is thinking of the movie as it’s going on. it’s just you and the movie. i love it

I started doing this in October and it changed my life. I experience a total reset of my mind and mood - especially when the movie is really good. Though I love going with friends, there’s something therapeutic about enjoying good cinema. I try to allow myself this luxury once a month

I’m not a mother and to be completely transparent I don’t really want to be one ever. Something struck me so deep in my poetry class last semester that probably pushed me farther into not wanting children, poetry about motherhood. It must be my knack for empathy and passion that connects me so hard to these poems, who knows. I really really love these poems. ‘Metaphors’ by Sylvia Plath and ‘the mother’ by Gwendolyn Brooks, to name a few. There was an especially hard hitting one about being a stay at home mother, but it’s escaping me in the moment. If I remember it I will come back to this. I have an inkling that fellow women in their 20s may relate to this, and if not I would recommend going down a rabbit hole. It’s existential but who doesn’t love that?

Listen to Jockstrap. It’s made up of Georgia Ellery (also in Black Country New Road) and Taylor Skye, and they go sooo hard. Georgia is the voice and plays multiple instruments while Taylor is more on the production side. I went to their Pitchfork Aftershow in Chicago last year and I have never had so much fun at a concert. Taylor sits onstage and literally just deejays the whole time (which is not a jab at him, he is a genius). Georgia sings, plays instruments, and performs for her LIFE. It’s a must listen, must see, must know. Here are some of my favorites of theirs; - City Hell - Glasglow - Sexy 2 - 50/50 (Extended Mix) - Hayley LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN!!!
