Alex has instantly become one of my favorite artists. The singer, songwriter and producer with a very familiar last name (Yes her father is Ernie Isley, 1/2 of the legendary Isley Brother) has a unique sound of neo-r&b, funk and soul with a voice and word play that draws me in everytime. Paired with a glass of that Gamay is eluded to earlier, it's over.

I first found out about him when he performed in Porter Robinson’s Secret Sky Fest in 2021, and the rest is history. His music to me has just been the perfect combo of the most formative genres to me growing up, like the alt-rock I would listen to on the school bus radio, and the electronic music one of my high school besties put me on to. It’s just so nostalgic for me yet feels so fresh at the same time. And then in 2023 he put out his second EP “Everything Perfect” and holy shit!!! I saw and continue to see a lot of myself in that project with just how much of a ride love can be, especially if it’s unrequited. I saw James Ivy perform live at the Bowery Ballroom supporting that album and it was one of the best and most fun nights of my life. I can go on and on but I’ll stop myself here hehe

Been enjoying this guy's music a lot recently. His song Seasons recently blew up on TikTok and kinda gave him his big break. I had the honor of meeting him when I helped my friends produce a show for him and got to photograph him at said show (see pic below). He walked in and was so sweet to everyone helping out. It was so refreshing seeing someone so authentic in the music scene, given that his opener was lowk a douchebag... that's a story for later. ANYWAYS really recommend listening to his songs if you're into Imogen Heap, Blood Orange, or kinda electronic sound. Some of my favs are Seasons, Pretend Friend, and Say what you mean.

important, powerful, moving and depressing piece about the life of Jordan Neely. It's a critical NYC story and reveals serious flaws in our systems. Also is a thoughtful profile of a truly NYC figure.

Very easy, yummy, good flavor but you can make spicier if you want and add things like shrimp or veggies but at minimum, it’s flavorful broth and tofu
