this is my favorite way of discovering music: go into your spotify followers/following, find a cool person/someone from your past, go into their followers, find a cooler person, peruse their playlists, add anything that looks cool to your queue -- rinse and repeat ad infinitum. i tend to go down a rabbit hole when i do this which means i never get through the whole queue so i add all those songs to a massive playlist called "today's queue" that i put on when i need to expand my taste. i just add the whole thing so it's a nice mix of new and old that makes the combing-through experience very fun. as i listen to the songs i release them from today's queue and add them to my liked songs or discard them into the digital void.

I usually search for playlist with a similar vibe I'm going for to see what they've added and get inspo. Look at related artists to the ones already in the playlist, and create a radio station out of the songs to automatically get recommended similar songs! Just click around and listen and explore!! You can also look at the genres of the songs that have your vibe and explore those (everynoise is a cool website to explore genres with). Most of all try to let it evolve, you will come across songs eventually that'll fit perfectly and you can add them as they come. Let your playlists grow over months and years, it doesn't have to be all done in one go!! :)

going to your friends account... finding someone they follow who looks cool... finding a playlist with a song or two you like and queueing other random songs from that playlist. my secret method to find new music that i feel creepy doing sometimes but it works. sorry not sorry

every time i hear a good clip on social media or hear someone talk about an artist that sounds interesting i add the song or artist to a playlist called new + untested to go to when i want to try something new. best way to constantly be discovering new music.

when i need to write secrets, things i'm ashamed about, sexy sentences, or anything i don't want any eyes on (not even mine) i write as small as i possibly can. this past weekend i had a lot of floating anxieties that i committed to paper this way and free writing in this format helped offload thoughts that were making me loopy. it looks kind of psychotic by the time i'm done a page but also kind of beautiful? (edited to fuck to preserve secrecy but still give you an idea of what it looks like. this is on a folded-up A4 sheet of paper zine)
