A sentimental film but it absolutely works. Contemplates the meaning of making art against the backdrop of the utter pointlessness and cruelty of the American carceral project. I don’t think I’ve ever cried so much in a theater.

”Almost Famous” is a nearly flawless two and a half hours of enchanting cinema and enthralling music. It’s got a wonderful atmosphere, a fantastic 70s vibe and is one of the best and most unique coming of age films out there.
Give this one a watch if you haven’t seen it yet, it might change your life :)

A mostly lighthearted comedy-drama about a family in 1973 Bedstuy Brooklyn just tryna get through life and make ends meet. The mom’s basically the only one tryna wrangle a whole house of rascal kids while the dad stays in the aspiring musician realm, unwilling to get a stable job to pay the bills.
Lots of fun eccentric characters and happenings, not really a plot or anything, it’s just catching the vibe and spending time with this family. Great authentic style, great music, great acting.
Doesn’t get depressing till the last 30 mins or so. Based on Spike Lee’s upbringing with his brothers and sisters (I think they helped him write it too).
