waking up to a chorus of bird song, falling asleep to drunk college boys singing pompeii by bastille wildly off key, reading with the steady staccato of rainfall in the background, feeling the breeze drift across my face while i’m half asleep. the distinction between my space and the rest of the world becomes blurrier. i think i like that.
one of the best ways to pass time by yourself. I didn’t live near water before so I really appreciate my time with it now. The way the sun shines and glistens off of the small waves is soo pretty and calming. I also like to admire the boats in the harbor! I recommend listening to Weyes Blood Titanic Rising. The Maria’s, or Magdelena Bay are also great choices!! If you don’t live near water, take time to sit and admire the rustling leaves of trees or the harmony of a city skyline or homes in a neighborhood :)
the FIP station lets you listen live to loads of different genres, with no ads and minimal radio host chat (and when it happens, it’s all in French so it sounds cool anyway). Best way to get out of the music algo and find some new shit!
I’ve been having big writer’s block recently as well, and I’ve been finding that rewriting things that have happened to me is a good way to just slowly inch back towards creativity. often I’ll write about a “what if” situation - like this situation actually happened, but what if the ending was different? what if that friend decided to confront her bf about the cheating and threw out all of his stuff while he was at work? what if I did respond to that random ad I saw in the paper?
When someone tells you “I know this place you’d love” in some random country and then you end up going there and try to figure out what about it reminded that person of you
