could any one stop her? misery, fried green tomatoes, dolores claiborne, titanic, the water boy, and even primary colors. i feel like the latter two have not aged well and feel like they’re stuck in time, but overall she had a really great mix of lead and supporting roles in (for lack of a better word) iconic films.
she can be so funny and over the top in a way that doesn’t derail a movie. even when she’s chewing it up, it never feels wrong. she had a way of elevating sort of schlocky material.
