in the vein of mj's Internet Archive rec and caardamom's follow-up on the Wayback Machine, i point you towards Ubuweb, which describes itself as "a pirate shadow library consisting of hundreds of thousands of freely downloadable avant-garde artifacts." i usually find myself perusing the short films or dance sections, but there's so much of the avant-garde to explore!

windy great finds!! i think my favorite thing i've watched on ubu so far has been ali akbar sadeghi's short film flower storm. agree w you on the differentiation

Looooooove ubuweb found so many good things on there: Yayoi Kusama short films, an interview between Ornette Coleman and Jacques Derrida, a brilliant early animated film by the Japanese noise band Boredoms, various Sonic Youth ephemera, I could go on! Really hope Ubuweb lives forever. My one piece of feedback for the dite is that I really wish that they differentiated between primary and secondary sources on there. Especially in video, you can’t really tell if the links are a film made by the artist, a documentary about them released 20 years after their death, a live performance video, a short piece of a video art etc.

The Sweet East (2023)

i think i'm a little late on this one because it came out near the end of last year, but got a few friends together to see this at a local indie theater. none of us had any idea what we were getting into, and i think that really worked, so i'm not going to share too much beyond saying that it was zany, funny, and shot beautifully.
