Staying at the Roxy in NY (formerly the Tribeca Grand) is akin to being on an elegant cruise in Manhattan. Itโ€™s my home away from home in the city. Everything is there: from live jazz in the massive atrium lobby with the glass elevator zipping up and down and the divine food and drinks (I recommend the lobster roll and a mescal cocktail) in recessed leather booths shaped like teacups, to the gorgeous red velvet theater below - which offers the best films on screen in Manhattan - curated by the brilliant Illyse Singer. After attending a killer film and fascinating Q&A, retreat to the Django, the speakeasy next door, which stays open til 4AM and is often where the hottest underground music acts playโ€ฆ What else could you ask for?ย

Made a WhatsApp group with all my film friends in it and have been using it coordinate going to screenings. It's so much fun! There's loads of little independent screenings happening where I live and some very good independent cinemas, but even if all you have is a TV you should start a film club too. This evening I'm off to an old pub that's been converted into an events space to watch The Garden by Derek Jarman ๐Ÿ˜Ž

is kam hing coffee shop in chinatown, right off of canal. they make amazing sponge cakes that come out piping hotโ€ฆ goes really well with a hk milk tea. the atmosphere in here is really strange; itโ€™s mostly grandmas hanging inside & theyโ€™re almost always playing 10 things i hate about you on the tv. itโ€™s awesome. great place to aimlessly sit for hours
